Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Yusuke Ikuma (膽熊 優介) ("we"), the operator of aside. By using aside you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use aside.

1. Who can use aside

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use aside only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf. If you use aside for an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it.

2. What aside is

aside is a chat with an AI model in which any part of an answer can be opened as a separate conversation. Answers are generated by language models operated by third parties. They can be wrong, incomplete, out of date, or biased, and they can be confidently wrong. Nothing aside produces is advice — medical, legal, financial, or otherwise — and you are responsible for checking anything you rely on.

aside is at an early stage. Features change, and some may be removed. We may change or discontinue aside, in whole or in part, at any time.

3. Your account

You can try aside without an account. Signing in with Google gives you an account that keeps your conversations, including the ones from your trial. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to it to yourself. One person, one account.

4. What you may not do

  • Use aside for anything illegal, or to harm, harass, deceive, or exploit anyone.
  • Generate content that infringes someone else's rights, including intellectual property and privacy.
  • Try to get around usage limits — for example by creating multiple accounts, clearing cookies to reset a trial, or automating requests.
  • Access aside by any means other than the interface we provide, scrape it, or probe or disrupt its infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer aside, or use it to build a competing service by extracting the model's behavior.
  • Violate the usage policies of the model providers we use, which apply to what you send through aside.

5. Usage limits

aside applies limits so that it stays available and fairly shared. Limits differ by plan and may change. When you reach one, aside tells you and tells you when you can continue. We may suspend or restrict an account that abuses the service or these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

6. Your content and the model's output

What you type is yours. You give us the permission we need to store it, to send it to the model providers we use, and to show it back to you — and nothing more. We do not use your conversations to train models, and we do not claim ownership of anything you write.

As between you and us, the answers the model produces for you are yours to use. Because models generate text, another user may receive the same or similar output, and we cannot promise that output is original or free of third-party rights. You are responsible for how you use it.

7. Paid plans and refunds

aside may offer paid plans. Prices and what each plan includes are shown before you buy. Payments are handled by a merchant of record acting as the seller, whose terms also apply to the purchase. We may change prices for future billing periods with reasonable notice.

A paid plan starts as soon as you buy it and renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time: you keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.

Because the plan starts immediately at your request, fees you have paid are not refunded, except where the law where you live gives you a right to one:

  • Where that law gives you a right to withdraw from the contract (for example, 14 days for consumers in the EU and the UK), you may use it. The refund is reduced by the share of the billing period that has already passed.
  • Other refund rights that law gives you are not affected.

To ask for a refund, write to contact@askaside.com from the account's address, or use the merchant of record's customer portal. The merchant may also refund a purchase on its own under its terms. If refunds are requested repeatedly, we may decline further ones or close the account under section 8.

8. Ending things

You can stop using aside at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by writing to contact@askaside.com. We may close an account that breaks these terms, or if we discontinue aside. Sections 6, 9, 10, and 11 survive the end of this agreement.

9. No warranty

aside is provided as it is and as it is available. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about its accuracy, reliability, availability, or fitness for any purpose.

10. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of aside. To the same extent, our total liability for any claim relating to aside is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, including the consumer protection law of the country where you live.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes go to the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance with exclusive jurisdiction, except where the mandatory law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

12. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we publish the new version at this address with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we tell you before it takes effect, in aside or by email. Continuing to use aside after a change means you accept it.

13. Contact

Write to contact@askaside.com.

14. Language

These terms are written in English. Korean and Japanese versions are provided for convenience; if they differ from the English text, the English text governs.
